The 1st Generation Wi-Fi 1 commercialise in market in 1999 with IEEE 802.11b/a for Radio Frequency 2.4GHz/5GHz respectively that delivered 1-11 Mbps.

Today 2024, the 7th Generation, Wi-Fi 7 already in the market, technology IEEE 802.11be for 2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz that delivered 1.376Gbps to 46Gbps per Spatial Stream 1x1 to Multi-Antennas. Most common Wireless Access Point in market are 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 or higher, depends on Radio Chipset capacity.

To optimise the performance throughput of  Wi-Fi 6 (4x4:4), Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, the Access Point shall support by Multi-Gig Switch port from 1G to 2.5G/5G/10Gbps that required POE IEEE 802.3at / 802.3bt.
